Veterinary school?

Im in 10th grade and i am very serious about wanting to be a veterinarian. I live in Nebraska (which is a state in the USA) ,and i don't want to go to a college that is to far from home. What are some good veterinary colleges in ,or close to Nebraska. And what classes should i be taking in high-school to prepare to be a veterinarian?

1The link below will take you to a list of all of the vet med schools. Pre-med and pre-vet med college students usually major in biology or biology and chemistry, so take the hardest classes in those areas that you can get at your high school. There are some undergraduate programs that vet schools choose more of their students from, and those programs are often not the undergrad program at their own school. For instance, several of my friends in college were pre-vet med and they went to Ashland College (in Ohio) because the vet school at Ohio State admitted more students from there than from Ohio State. So, I'd pick one or two vet med schools that you want to get into and then check out their websites or call them and find out where the students they've admitted recently went to college. I'd also talk to your family vet (if you have pets) or a vet who works with the sort of animals you'd like to about where they went to school and which programs they think are best. Remember, people who love their careers are always happy to talk to people who want to go into them, so vets will be happy to answer questions from someone so serious about this career choice. Good luck!
