there is a product called the a-trac dynamic brace that can be tried. preliminary feedback suggests that this can be fairly high maintenance (adjustments, etc.), but a few successful cases have been reported.
there is also the possibility of injecting the dog's own stem cells (harvested from fat cells) into the joint. doing this for an acl tear is highly experimental, although horses with tendon injuries seem to heal much faster with a stem cell injection. it is also very costly (~$2500) and should probably be used with a brace. go to www.vet-stem.com to find a vet certified in this procedure.
