i want to know about rehmannia 16 as an aid for diabetic dogs

my little westie x has been diagnosed as diabetic. in his book, "the nature of animal healing," dr. martin goldstein says that the chinese herb rehmannia 16 is known in the orient to help in diabetes treatment. has anyone had any experience with this herb for diabetes? is it safe? the only references i have found are for rehmannia 6 or 8, and are used for kidney function.

my acupuncturist just prescribed this for my cushingoid dog. no results yet - as we just started today, but i've heard from several people that it helped. looking for more info on it, just like you.
