i have a 9 year old disabled dachsie, compromised bladder, lower lumbar stenosis, we express her bladder. we never had a problem with uti's, recently she had one, urine now negative, but, for the last several months she has fishy odor in her urine. no stones, no crystals.
her sugar is ok, ph is ok, we are baffled.
i have noticed that if she has carrots cooked for a treat along with the four other dogs, the next day her urine is fishy smelling, also, for examle yesterday she had cooked carrots and zucchinni. she is eating canned food, but, since the infection, i have to add beef bologna or she will not eat. she is a petite dachsie and i do not want her to go wtihout food for long periods.
she uses a cart for outdoors.

i wish someone answered your question because my almost 15 yr old shih tzu has liver disease and we just found out she has gallstones too. we have her on homeopathic meds since surgery is not an option for me (due to her age and heart condition). she's been on the meds for 2 weeks and i've noticed her urine smells "fishy" and i was wondering if it could be related to her condition or just to the meds she is on??
