we have a cat and 4 kittens living on our porch behind a cabinet.they have been there about 4 weeks.this morning we found the runt of the litter half eaten.all that remains is the head and shoulders.could the mother have done this?

we noticed a large male cat in the yard yesterday.could he have killed and eaten the kitten.?should we try to catch the remaining kittens and take them inside away from their mother?my wife is very upset over this.
